Information about emigrants is not easy to find. Sources are sometimes official records or notes of the parish priest at the place of residence, most frequently however passenger lists, which were recorded in the immigration or emigration port. Unfortunately these information was often quite incomplete, containing only the name of the emigrant, its age, occupation and the destination. The place of residence is rarely given as origin, most times the origin just says "Germany".
The following data is mainly from the "Germans to America" CDs. These CDs, published in the USA, are often helpful, but unfortunately also often incorrectly and incompletely (see report of the University of Oldenburg). Since I don't have access to these CDs I asked for help in the newsgroup "soc.genealogy.german". I would like to thank everybody who helped me by looking up the requested data from CD. I didn't compare the data with the original passenger lists yet, therefore I do not take over guarantee for the correctness of the following data.
